The Paper Chain Project.
By: gravityhappens
This is sort of a follow on from the butterfly project. The butterfly project is amazing for a short-term distraction, but sometimes when you’re recovering you need a little more. The paper chain project helps you to see your achievements over time - to see how your recovery is progressing and to see you grow over time. It has really helped me :)
Rules:
1. for every day you go without self harming or purging, add a colourful link to the paper chain2. If you relapse, just add a white link to to the chain and carry on the chain without any disruption3. Over time the paper chain will grow in length4. And you can see your progress, and see that even if you do relapse, the are still days you go without hurting yourself. The colourful links.5. Over time and through your recovery watch the amount of coloured links begin to increase, and the amount of white links begin to decrease.6. If you feel like hurting yourself, look at the paper chain and realise just how far you’ve made it, and realise that if you’ve resisted before you can do it again :)

I LOVE THIS OMFG.

THIS. THIS IS A MILLION TIMES BETTER THAN THE BUTTERFLY PROJECT. EVERYONE DO THIS INSTEAD!
sorry I got really excited because although the idea behind the butterfly project is a good on, int practice it’s pretty negative.

this is helpful not only for self injury but also with eating disorders. it could be a day without bingeing, a day without purging, a day following a healthy meal plan, whatever you’d like that would be helpful
